Q: Do you think that the creation of a center of practical and theoretical sexual research could help fathom the still-obscure laws of sexuality?
A: Unquestionably. I think in very few years that would lead to a very basic breakthroughâ¦thereâs never been any real research. Well, there was a project in St. Louis, Missouri, where they took color pictures of people having sexual intercourseâfrom 18 to 80âwhich I presume that nobody can see unless theyâre researchers, or something of the sort. They found out very little as far as I can make out.
Q: Is there, in the still very strong opposition against eroticism, in art as in life, a manifestation of the control of consciousness?
A: Oh, unquestionably, itâs the most important point of control. They lose control of that, and they really lose control. And theyâre determined not to lose control.
Q: How do you envision the future of relations between men and women?
A: In The Soft Machine: I proposed that the sexes be separated, that all male children be raised by males and all female children be raised by women. The less the two sexes have to do with each other, the better, I think.
Q: Well, then you wouldnât need women any more, would you, as soon as it was all being done automatically?
A: No, perhaps thatâs assuming you could have wombs in bottles, so that there wouldnât be any need for these womenâ¦
